TOWN OF ORONO
PUBLIC NOTICE
The Town of Orono Planning Board will hold public hearings on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building Council Chamber. A copy of any applications can be requested through the Planning Department or found online at orono.org/464/Planning-Board-Items-Under-Consideration. The public hearing will be held to act on each of the following:
1. A minor site plan review application by Sodexo America, LLC to create an approximately 2,150 sq. ft. concrete courtyard area with two 12' x 20' pavilions and fire pits at Wells Commons Dining Hall at 34 Long Road on the University of Maine campus (Tax Map 11 Lot 77) in the UNIV Zoning District.
2. A minor site plan amendment by the Town of Orono for renovations to the berm at the Town's shooting range at 12 Putnam Road (Tax Map 9 Lot 2) in the F&A Zoning District.
3. A proposed Land Use Ordinance amendment to the following Sections: 18-106: Schedule of Uses; 18-130: Excavation, removal and filling of lands. The purpose of the amendment is to carve out an exemption to the standards of Sec. 18-130 for projects in the UNIV Zoning District where the use or proposal would not otherwise trigger Site Plan Review under Sec. 18-162.
