ADVERTISEMENT: NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS BIDS ARE REQUESTED FOR THE TRAFFIC CALMING AND ROUTE 3 IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT THE JACKSON LABORATORY 600 MAIN STREET, BAR HARBOR, MAINE Outline of Work: The project includes, but is not limited to, the following items: Sidewalk and median island construction with drainage and other incidental work; pedestrian safety improvements; installation of sidewalk lighting; and landscaping. Location: The Project is located on Route 3 through the campus of The Jackson Laboratory in the town of Bar Harbor in Hancock County, Maine. Project limits are from approximately 3800' (~0.7 mi.) south of the Schooner Head Road intersection, running northerly to said intersection. Obtaining the Bidding Documents: Digital bid documents for the Project are available on request by emailing Ben Darrah at bdarrah@vhb.com. Each prospective bidder will be required to obtain a copy of the bid documents. General Notice: Sealed bids for the above referenced Project shall be addressed to The Jackson Laboratory and endorsed on the wrapper "Bids for Route 3 Traffic Calming and Roadway Improvements in the Town of Bar Harbor". Bids must be hand-delivered and will be received from contractors at The Jackson Laboratory main visitors entrance (dropped off at the security desk), located at 600 Main Street, Bar Harbor, Maine 04609 no later than one o'clock (prevailing time) on November 26, 2024, at which time and place they will be publicly opened and read. Each Bid must be made upon blank forms provided by The Jackson Laboratory and must be accompanied by a bid bond of 5% of the bid amount or an official bank check, cashier's check, certified check, certificate of deposit, or United States postal money order for 5% of the bid amount, payable to The Jackson Laboratory, as a Bid Guaranty. A Contract Performance Surety Bond and a Contract Payment Surety Bond, each for 100% of the Contract price, shall be required of the successful Bidder. Bids will be accepted from all qualified bidders. The lowest responsive bidder must demonstrate to The Jackson Laboratory that it is qualified to undertake the work to be considered for the award of this contract. Current pre-qualification by the Maine Department of Transportation in an appropriate category may fulfill this requirement. The Jackson Laboratory reserves the right to reject any or all bids. Pre-Bid Meeting: A non-mandatory onsite Pre-Bid Meeting will be held on November 4, 2024, at 9:00. Participants will gather at The Jackson Laboratory main visitors entrance, located at 600 Main Street, Bar Harbor, Maine. Other Information: For project-specific questions, Bidders must fill out the RFI Form provided with the digital bid documents and email it to Ben Darrah at bdarrah@vhb.com, with the project name in the subject line. General questions may be directed to Ben Darrah at (207) 536-2586. Bidders shall not contact anyone else for clarification of contract provisions. Questions received after November 15, 2024 will not be answered. All work must be completed by September 30, 2025.
