
NOTICE OF AN APPLICATION AND A PUBLIC MEETING FOR
A UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY
BROWNFIELDS PROGRAM CLEANUP GRANT

The City of Belfast, Maine, is applying to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Brownfields Program for a Cleanup Grant, to fund proposed remediation activities such as the abatement of identified hazardous building materials and/or the cleanup of impacted soils, for two of their properties, one located at 74 High Street, Belfast, and the other located at 137 Church Street, Belfast. The City of Belfast will submit its grant application to the USEPA no earlier than November 13th, 2024 and no later than November 14th, 2024.
A draft Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) has been drafted for each of these two properties. Copies of the City of Belfast's draft grant application and draft ABCAs are available for review by the public Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 6:00pm, at the City of Belfast Planning & Codes Department, Top Floor, Belfast City Hall, 131 Church Street, Belfast, Maine, they may be downloaded at www.cityofbelfast.org/cleanup, and/or they may be requested from Thomas Kittredge, Economic Development Director, City of Belfast, via phone at (207) 338-3370, extension 116, or via email at economicdevelopment@cityofbelfast.org.
Persons wishing to comment on this draft grant application and/or these draft ABCAs may do so at any time prior to 5:00pm local time, Monday, November 11th, 2024 through one or more of the following methods: 1) via mail to Thomas Kittredge, Economic Development Director, City of Belfast, Belfast City Hall, 131 Church Street, Belfast, Maine 04915; 2) via email to economicdevelopment@cityofbelfast.org; and/or 3) in person at a public meeting, to be held at 5:30pm on Monday, November 4th, 2024, in City Council Chambers at Belfast City Hall, 131 Church Street, Belfast, Maine.
