The Freedom Community Historical Society (FCHS) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $327,000 grant by the Historic Preservation Fund, as administered by the National Park Service, Department of the Interior.
The grant of $327,000 will be used in part to complete the rehabilitation of Keen Hall, the historic headmaster's residence for Freedom Academy until the campus was destroyed by fire in 1958.
As the headquarters of the Historical Society, Keen Hall will house archival collections of local historical importance. As a much-needed community center, it will provide space for displays, exhibits, events, and public meetings from its 1 Main St. location in Freedom Village.
