TOWN OF ORONO
PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
The Orono Planning Board will hold public hearings on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 7:00 PM in the Municipal Building Council Chambers on the following:
a. Request by Ann Ross for a home business to operate a Pilates studio in her home at 36 Myrtle Street, Tax Map 27-2, Lot 133 in the Medium Density Residential (MDR) District.
b. Request by Jon Tierney to amend an existing home occupation for recognition as a
"home business," as defined by the Land Use Ordinance, for his retail store Alpenglow Adventure Sports at 92 Main Street, Tax Map 27-2, Lot 149, in the Medium Density Residential District.
c. Request by Hub LLC to change a nonconforming use to another nonconforming use on a portion of land at 61 Margin Street, Tax Map 31-2, Lot 29, in the Medium Density Residential District and for site plan approval of the new use, which will consist of the reuse of an existing 10,000 sq. ft. building on approximately 4 acres of developed land for the purposes of a brewery with tasting room, offices, and artists' studios.
d. Request of Donald J. Volk, DVM, who owns property at 20 Stillwater Avenue, Tax Map 10, Lot 15, to amend Sections 18-106 and 18-124 of the Land Use Ordinance to allow barnyard animals in the Commercial-1 District west of Interstate 95.
e. Amendment to section 18-31 of the Land Use Ordinance and the addition of section
18- 150 to the Land Use Ordinance to (1) define "student homes" and (2) provide certain standards for "student homes."
In addition the Planning Board will continue the ?public hearing and review of an amendment to the Land Use Ordinance to establish the Main Street Office Overlay District along Main Street from Juniper Street to Kelley Road. This matter was tabled at the Planning Board's May 17, 2017, meeting until June 21, and the public hearing was kept open.
