
Please take notice that The Jackson Laboratory (JAX), 600 Main Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609 (contact: Kelly Doran, (207) 288-6585) intends to file a Site Location of Development Law (Site Law) License Amendment application pursuant to 38 M.R.S.A. §§ 481 to 490, and a Natural Resources Protection Act permit application with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection pursuant to the provisions of 38 M.R.S.A. §§480-A thru 480-BB on or about January 15, 2020.
These applications are to permit the construction of the Route 3 Housing Project, a 24-unit multi-family workforce housing development for JAX employees.
A request for a public hearing or a request that the Board of Environmental Protection assume jurisdiction over one or more of the applications must be received by the Department in writing, no later than 20 days after the applications are found by the Department to be complete and are accepted for processing. A public hearing may or may not be held at the discretion of the Commissioner or Board of Environmental Protection. Public comment on each application will be accepted throughout the processing of the applications.
For Federally licensed, permitted, or funded activities in the Coastal Zone, review of this application shall also constitute the State's consistency review in accordance with the Maine Coastal Program pursuant to Section 307 of the federal Coastal Zone Management Act, 16 U.S.C. § 1456.
The applications will be filed for public inspection at the Bureau of Land Resources, Department of Environmental Protection office in Bangor during normal working hours. Copies of the applications may also be seen at the Bar Harbor Town Office.
Written public comments may be sent to the Maine DEP regional office in Bangor where the application is filed for public inspection, at 106 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401.
