The application is for the discharge of 3,500 gallons of pool backwash wastewater every two months from the Community Pool to the Brook Pipe section of the City storm sewer system, which ultimately leads to the Penobscot River in Old Town, Maine. The application will be filed on or about October 3, 2017 and will be available for public inspection at DEP's Augusta office during normal business hours. A copy may also be seen at the municipal office in Old Town, Maine. A request for a public hearing or request that the Board of Environmental Protection assume jurisdiction over this application must be received by the DEP, in writing, no later than 20 days after the application is found acceptable for processing, or days from the date of this notice, whichever is longer.
